Our Name
We are often asked why the name 'Arcas'. Beside the obvious benefits of having a short, memorable name that starts with an 'A' and usable in many different languages, there is some history around the name. Arcas is featured in ancient Greek mythology, and is linked to the constellation Ursa Minor as you can see in our logo. In short, Arcas was the son of Zeus and the nymph Callisto; the latter changed into a bear by Hera out of envy. When Arcas - during a hunt - attempted to kill the bear Callisto, Zeus intervened and put them both in the sky as constellations (Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, Great Bear and Little Bear, also known as Big and Little Dipper).
